Our Story
History and Heritage
Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp is known for its natural springs located on the property. In 1924 the area was established as a spa and resort, with a lodge, cabins, and a huge swimming pool. It grew and became very popular after the construction of US Highway 70. The resort closed in 1939, when the lodge was destroyed by fire. The land then changed hands several times until Earl and Sylvia Ayres purchased it in 1962. Mr. Ayres had long dreamed of a church camp in this area. At his passing in 1968, his family deeded the original 60 acres to become Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp.

On December 26, 1968, the Madill Record declared, “Pettijohn Springs Is Coming Back to Life!” and predicted “the surroundings will ring with the sound of happy children.” In June 1971, the first summer camp session was held. Since that time the facilities have grown to include approximately 135 acres, climate-controlled cabins, 5-acre lake, recreation areas, Little Chapel, a full-service dining hall, covered pavilions, swimming pool, Retreat Center, and many other wonderful amenities.

PSCC has been serving the Kingdom for over 50 years and thousands of youth and adults' lives have been enriched in this spiritual and natural setting. PSCC is a highly effective and extremely necessary mission work going on in our own backyard. A board of faithful members of the churches of Christ from Oklahoma and Texas oversee the facilities and services provided by the Camp. Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp is operated year-round, providing facilities for summer sessions, retreats, workshops, reunions, and other activities.

At Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp, we believe in providing a Bible based approach to spiritual renewal and growth. Our camp is overseen and managed by members of the Churches of Christ, which consider themselves blessed to assume such a vital role in the ministry of the saints. PSCC believes in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all our visitors and is focused on providing a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for everyone who comes to our camp.
A Spiritual Safe Haven
Believers everywhere are commanded to put away the works of the flesh and put on the spiritual mind of Christ. The Followers of Christ must abide in the world, but be set apart from its influences. Here at Pettijohn, we offer a wide range of facilities that allows one to refresh their spirit, renew their mind, and recharge their spiritual fortitude. Our camp is a place where people can come together for encouragement, form lasting relationships, create unforgettable memories, and cultivate a stronger relationship with the Heavenly Father. We believe in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all our visitors, while providing a safe, nurturing, and fun environment to grow in accordance with God's word. We offer a wide range of activities for people of all ages, and we are dedicated to helping our visitors grow, learn, and connect with one another.

Pettijohn Springs is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote godly values and healthy spiritual living. Our camp relies on the generous financial support of Christians everywhere. Donations and gifts are tax deductible in accordance with federal regulations. Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is made up of a diverse group of individuals who share a passion for the mission of PSCC in serving God. Each member is committed to fulfilling their responsibilities and obligations not only to God but also to the organization as it operates in the state of Oklahoma. The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the business operations of the Camp to ensure that they are conducted in a godly and lawful manner.

I am honored to serve as the manager of Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp, and I am fully committed to the ministry's mission of promoting unity and growth among individuals of all ages. My passion lies in helping people and nurturing their spiritual development, and I believe that Pettijohn Springs is an ideal environment for individuals to realize their full potential. My family and I feel blessed to be part of such a inspiring work and are grateful for the opportunity to witness the positive impact of this ministry on the lives of our campers.

Beyond my work at Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp, I am also responsible for leading my household with my devoted wife Shayla at my side. We are grateful for the Lord's blessings in our marriage and cherish our relationship deeply. Together, we are raising five remarkable children who are growing in the Lord every day. We are delighted to be able to share our passion for spiritual growth and wholesome living with our family, friends, and extended church family!
